Take a Trip to Shoshone’s Majestic Underground Ice Cave

Beginning May 1st, Shoshone Ice Cave in Idaho will be open to visitors for our 2024 season! Mother Nature has continued to make the cave even more beautiful, and we are excited to show you our own preservation efforts as well. Visit us and find out why people deem the Shoshone Ice Cave as one of the extraordinary wonders of the world.

Improvement Initiatives Made Over Time

We have opened up the entry to the cave,with new and wider steps, handrails, and a larger new platform at the end of the cave, visitors can now enter and leave the cave more easily and safely. It has been a long project but we are sure that you will be happy with the results. We have also added a graveled playground with two climbing dinos.

Season of Operation

May 1 through September 30

10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
7 days a week including holidays
Tours leave every hour on the hour.
The last tour of the day leaves at 5:00 PM.

May 28 to Sep 7
9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
7 days a week, including holidays
Tours leave every hour on the hour, with the last one leaving at 6:00 PM.
Additional tours leave on the half-hour from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Admission and Rates

General admission prices include a guided tour and entrance to the rock and artifact museum as well as the gift shop. 

  • Adults: $15.00
  • Children 4 to 12 Years Old: $10.00
  • Children 3 and Under: Free
  • Book online for discounted rates.

Group Tours

We offer a 20% discount on each admission for groups of 20 or more. Kindly call us in advance to schedule a date and time for your visit, so we can make sure that we can accommodate the size of your group.

Tour Information

The ice cave tour is a walking tour consisting of a ¾ mile walk. Visitors will descend and ascend a total of approximately 80 stairs leading down and 80 stairs returning from the cave. Because of this, we remind guests to plan on spending 45 minutes to an hour on our tours.

Reminders

  • Taking pictures is encouraged.
  • Recommend closed toe shoes.
  • Bring a light jacket.
  • No need to bring a flashlight,cave has led lighting
  • Animals are not allowed on the tour. Service dogs are permitted.
  • Due to the number of stairs, the tour is not accessible by wheelchair or stroller.
